Closings and Cancellations
About FrostyCall

FrostyCall.com is the result of seven years of development by Stafford and Bryan Thompson. Stafford, a long-time broadcaster, realized the need for a reliable and fast method of entering and displaying closing information on media websites. Not only does it need to be designed for internet viewing, the information needs to be easily presented to the on-air broadcasters in a way that is logical and easy to read. If it is easy to read, it is easy to listen to, which makes for good radio. Bryan, his son, has been programming and designing websites for ten years and is also involved in broadcasting as Tech Coordinator and lead Developer for the Rural Radio Network.

What makes us different?

FrostyCall has been designed from the ground up with ease-of-use and stability at the forefront. During inclement weather, we know that the normal office staff may not be able to make it to the station to help. The overnight guy that has already worked an eight hour shift might need to change gears and answer phones. We designed FrostyCall with the expectation that anyone can learn and use it in less than 5 minutes. The interface is intuitive, and entering closings is a one-step process.

Closings need to be read on the air, and on-air use is very different from the way regular people read information. In the studio, the announcer can view the closings grouped and sorted in any way you choose. Want to see all of the schools, sorted by type of closing? Easy as pie.

Delivery method

The closings that are displayed on your website are cached every ten minutes. We use strict HTML and CSS, which means the information your server will be requesting each time someone loads the website will be as small and efficient as possible. You are totally free to style the closings with your own fonts, colors, etc., and it will look absolutely integrated into your layout. No goofy iFrames or other inefficient methods of syndication. Simply have your web person insert a single line of code and you'll have the latest closing information in your site.

Technical Stuff

Our server is owned 100% by us and served at a colocation facility that has multiple redundant internet connections. We are also partners with several other companies that have servers that are housed in the same rack, which means we are able to use some of their resources if needed. At a moments notice, we can shift our demand so that all of the heavy processing is handled on a separate machine or even several separate machines. What this means for you is that under even the worst possible scenario, we'll be able to stay active and reliable.

We know that at the end of the day, all that matters is that you have the best possible information on your site. We know that you get calls when information isn't there, and in a lot of cases it isn't your fault. But we know above all else that it is your reputation on the line.
